Manes Flats Wetlands Restoration
Purpose: Design and install water control structures to manage stormwater at The Nature Conservancy’s Great Salt Lake Shorelands Preserve. In partnership with Utah Geological Survey, TNC will conduct comprehensive monitoring using aerial imagery, water indices, and bird activity tracking to assess the project’s benefits to Great Salt Lake hydrology and biodiversity.
Benefits: These interventions will restore an estimated 1,000 acres of mosaic wetlands and submerged-vegetation habitats while increasing water retention and improving water quality. By stabilizing stormwater flows and reducing wetland degradation, the project will help maintain the hydrologic balance of the Great Salt Lake ecosystem.
