Goggin Drain Bank Stabilization through Pilot Study, Evaluation, and Implementation

Purpose: Stabilize eroded regions of the Goggin Drain banks to protect over 400 acres of critical saline wetland playas for shorebirds. As a vital water conveyance channel, the Goggin Drain plays a key role in maintaining water flow to Great Salt Lake.

Benefits: Through a two-year pilot study using naturalized stabilization techniques, this project will prevent erosion, preserve unique habitat, and maintain water level control to support shorebird populations along the south shore of Great Salt Lake. Repairing the bank integrity of the Goggin Drain will help sustain its essential hydrological contributions to the Great Salt Lake ecosystem.
